SCHOOL BACKGROUND
HEARTWORKS LEARNING CENTER, INC. (HLC) is a K to 12 private school of basic education committed to the holistic development of school-aged children. The school offers kindergarten, elementary and high school programs. It is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and authorized by the Department of Education (DepEd).
John Stephen Curada, PhD and Michelle Nena Curada, MAT founded the school system in 2005. Anchoring on their education and research experience, they developed a unique learning system that blended relevant pedagogies, learning theories, concepts and evidence-based practices in the field. The school started operations in 2007 after being registered with the SEC.
The overarching goal of the teaching-learning process is the development of 21st century skills and values among the learners. With this end in mind, HLC integrates the tenets of Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP), Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) Approach to Teaching, Multiple Intelligences (MI), Understanding by Design (UbD), Whole Brain Teaching (WBT) and constructivism, among others.
Consequently, the curricula across the different levels are implemented such that these learning theories and principles are being given life. These are periodically enhanced through research of emerging and functional learning practices, institutional reflection and collaboration with other organizations.
